Simone Gragnani began studying piano at a very young age. He quickly caught the public's attention as the first prize winner of several national and international Italian piano competitions. Since 1990 he has won international competitions not only in Italy --2nd Prize "W. M. Massaza", 1st prize "F. Liszt", 1st prize "Paul Harris”, but also in France. For three consecutive years, he won the 3rd prize at the "Rubinstein-Competition" in Paris-Bagnolet, the 3rd prize at the "concours d'Epinal France-Federation Internationale des Concours Genève" and the 1st prize at the Councours Musical de France in Paris.
Mr. Gragnani now appears regularly at prominent festivals, concert halls and theatres throughout Europe, including the Amici della Musica, the Italian Concert Societies, the International Festival of Bergamo and Brescia, the Centro Ferruccio Busoni, the Festival of Viersen/Dusseldorf, the Gasteig in Munich, the St. Moritz Piano Festival, the International Schleswig-Holstein Festival in Luebeck, and the RSI in Lugano.
He has live and studio recordings of the compositions of Busoni, Clementi, Beethoven, Ravel, Liszt and Brahms. His live concerts have been broadcasted by the RAI (Italian State Radio and Television), by the Radio della Svizzera Italiana and by Radio Eins in Cologne.
Mr. Gragnani has played with the “Symphonic Orchestra of Pescara”, with the Orchestra "Dino Ciani", with the “Symphonic Orchestra of Bacau”, with the “Zurcher Musikhochschulorchester”, with the "Aargauer Symphonic Orchestre”,with the "Orchestre Symphonique de Mulhouse France" and with the "Orchestergesellschaft Zurich".
In addition to his solo perfomances, he is a sought after pianist for chamber music, having success in recitals in the Festhalle in Viersen (Dusseldorf), at the Palzzo del Quirinale in Rome (European-live-broadcasting by RAI-Radio Tre) and at the Reims Festival in France; the complete works for violoncello and piano by Chopin with the cellist Vittorio Ceccanti (Chopin Edition for the Brilliant label) has obtained very good appreciations.

He often has takes part in International Festivals of Contemporary Music playing the compositions of Castiglioni, Berio, Dallapiccola, Sani and Vacchi; at the Grosser Saal of the Hochschule of Zurich, he played Pierre Boulez’ 2nd Piano Sonata.
Born in 1968 in Pisa, he took his degree certificate (Piano-recital area) with full marks, praise and honourable mention at “G.Verdi” Torino Conservatoire; he initially studied with Antonio Bacchelli and continued his studies with Paolo Bordoni and Homero Francesch at the Hochschule für Musik of Zurich. There he attended the postgraduated studies in Francesch’s Masterclass and obtained the Masters Degree and the Soloist Diploma (Ph.D.).
He was a Professor on the faculties of the Conservatories of "A.Boito" in Parma, "G. Tartini" in Triest, "N. Paganini" in Genova, “L.Marenzio” in Brescia, “S.Cecilia” in Rome, “E.R.Duni” in Matera, "C.G. da Venosa" in Potenza. He holds the chair for special piano courses in some Piano post graduate courses and he is often invited as member of commission in National and International Piano Competitions. He is now Professor on the faculties of the “A. Vivaldi” Conservatoire in Alessandria.
